> MacroXray is an independent protein product ranking engine. We rank protein powders, bars, RTD shakes, and snacks across 5 transparent, data-driven dimensions. No sponsorships, no pay-to-rank, no influencer deals.

## What MacroXray Does

MacroXray collects nutrition data and retail pricing from authorised retail sources, normalises everything to per-100 g and per-serving metrics, then ranks every product across five dimensions using percentile scoring within each product category. The result is an objective leaderboard that helps consumers find protein products matching their priorities — whether that's maximum protein per calorie, best value, cleanest macros, or specific dietary needs.

## The 5 Ranking Dimensions (Detailed)

### 1. Protein Efficiency
- **Metric:** Grams of protein per 100 kcal
- **Why it matters:** The purest signal of whether a product delivers on its protein promise. A product with 30 g protein per 100 kcal is significantly more efficient than one with 15 g per 100 kcal, even if the label protein count looks similar.
- **Accent color:** Teal (#00E5C7)

### 2. Value
- **Metric:** Price per 10 g of protein
- **Why it matters:** Compares the real cost of hitting your daily protein target — not the sticker price of a tub or box. Converted across 25 currencies using live FX rates.
- **Accent color:** Lime (#C6F135)

### 3. Leanness
- **Metric:** Protein-to-fat ratio
- **Why it matters:** High leanness means more muscle fuel and less filler fat. Important for anyone watching their fat intake or total calories.
- **Accent color:** Pink (#FF3E8A)

### 4. Low Carb
- **Metric:** Net carbs per serving
- **Why it matters:** Whether you're keto, low-carb, or carb-conscious, this dimension surfaces products that won't spike your macros.
- **Accent color:** Orange (#FF8C42)

### 5. Fiber
- **Metric:** Fiber per serving
- **Why it matters:** An often-overlooked factor in satiety, gut health, and overall nutrition quality. Higher fiber = better.

## XRay Score

The XRay Score (0–100) is a weighted composite of all five dimension percentiles. It is calculated within each product category — bars are compared to bars, powders to powders. A score of 85 means the product outperforms 85% of products in its category across the combined dimensions.

Protein Efficiency and Value carry the most weight because they reflect what most people care about: getting the most protein for the fewest calories and the lowest cost. Leanness, Low Carb, and Fiber fine-tune the picture.

The XRay Score is a relative ranking, not an absolute health judgment. It does not mean "85% healthy" or "grade B+."

MacroXray tracks 13 dietary flags per product: Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Lactose-Free, Soy-Free, Nut-Free, Egg-Free, Vegan, Vegetarian, Halal, Kosher, Sugar-Free, Non-GMO, Organic.

If we don't have confirmed data for a dietary flag, it shows as unknown — never as a guess. We'd rather show less than show wrong.

## Data Principles

1. **No pay-to-rank.** Brands cannot pay for placement or higher scores. Rankings are computed from nutrition data alone.
2. **Open methodology.** Every score is a percentile within its product category. The formula is the same for every product.
3. **Real prices, real currencies.** We track actual retail prices and convert using daily FX rates. You see the real cost in your currency.
4. **Dietary transparency.** Unknown dietary flags show as unknown, never guessed.
5. **Affiliate independence.** Some product pages have affiliate links. Affiliate relationships never influence rankings — the scoring algorithm has no knowledge of which products have affiliate links.

## Nutrition Data

All nutrition data is normalised to per-100 g for cross-product comparability. Per-serving values are also available. Data points tracked include: calories, protein, fat, saturated fat, carbohydrates, fiber, sugar, sodium, serving size (g and mL), protein source, and flavor profile.

## Multi-Currency Support

Pricing is displayed in the user's local currency, auto-detected by geo-location. 25 currencies are supported with daily FX rate updates. Users can manually switch currency at any time.
